BLOG The Village House
June 10th, 2010
The outdoor pool is open and Rebecca has been using it to practice for her role in the local Saco Valley Swim Team. A sign of the warm weather has been the increasing number of barbecues we have already hosted as well as those delicious s’mores by the fire pit!
We are pleased to welcome some of our regular guests, who have recently bought property in the village as well as dear friends from England, ‘the Stokes family’, who have re-located to Jackson, so we are now neighbors.
Sally has been voted in on the Board of the Jackson Historical Society, based in the Old Town Hall on Black Mountain Road, and she is hoping to uncover more of the history and mystery surrounding the Village House in days gone by to share with our visitors.
The Historical Society is a great place to visit with an impressive museum and art gallery. It is also the home of the newly formed ‘River Arts Gallery’, exhibiting work by local artists. Next week will see the opening reception for the David Baker Retrospective art show on Friday, June 18th from 7.00 to 9.00 p.m. Baker was a Jackson artist with a unique sense of wonder of life which is reflected in his work. The exhibition will be open on Saturdays & Sundays, from June the 19th to July 4th from 10.00 a.m. to 4.00 p.m. Catch the show if you are staying with us and for more information about River Arts Gallery at the Jackson Historical Society, please visit www.riverartsgallery.com.
Don’t forget to check out some of our great summer packages including Moose Spotting Tours, Zipwire and Gondola Rides at Wildcat Mountain, White Water Rafting Excursions, Horseback Riding at Black Mountain, and not forgetting Mount Washington Valley’s Bike Week coming up soon!
All the best for the summer!
